Screw

Our screws are made of iron and stainless steel, including self-tapping screws, self-drilling screws, and non-standard screws. Our products are widely used in many industries such as light steel villas, light wood structure houses, steel structure factories, stadiums, high-speed rail stations, electrical appliances, doors and windows, photovoltaics, and automobiles.

Components of A Screw

A screw consists of four parts. The tip of the screw is the part that penetrates the material when screwed in. Depending on the screw’s primary purpose and whether a pre-drilled hole is used, the tip can be pointed or flat. Self-tapping screws have a forked tip that cuts into the surface like a drill bit.

The threads are wound around the shank. These parts of the shank are screwed into the material and secure it. Screws come in different types of shanks and threads, including double-threaded screws, which have two threads on the shank, allowing for faster screwing in and out and a more secure hold.

The head shape of screws varies, which determines the type of screwdriver you need to use to tighten it. Each type of screwdriver has its own advantages and disadvantages, such as torque, which refers to the amount of force required to turn the screw.

Key Features

Thread Type: Screws can be fully threaded or partially threaded. A fully threaded screw has threads extending from the tip to the head, meaning each part of the screw is firmly anchored to the material.

Partially threaded screws only have a portion of the thread. These screws have advantages, such as being suitable for situations where the material is under high stress and easily damaged.

Length: The screw you use must be the right size to fit the surface and project; otherwise, it may damage the surface, the screwdriver, or the screw itself.

A screw that is too long may completely penetrate the material, while a screw that is too short may not be strong enough to hold the material together.

Diameter: The diameter of the screw is also important because thicker screws may crack more brittle materials such as wood, in which case a thinner screw should be used. However, for heavy-duty projects, a thinner screw may deform. On double-threaded screws, you may see the diameter referred to as the specification.

Color: One of the main disadvantages of screws is that they are exposed on the surface of the material. Therefore, you may need to choose screws that match the surface color for better integration into the overall design.

Surface Finish and Material: The surface finish and material of the screw determine its color and performance. For example, stainless steel screws are the best choice for outdoor use because they are resistant to rust and corrosion.

Other rust-resistant screws include galvanized screws, chrome-plated screws, phosphated black screws, and brass screws. However, brass screws, for example, have lower hardness and are therefore less suitable for many heavy-duty outdoor operations.
